So you've made the leap and received your awesome new lashes and you're loving them!! You have your after care lash kit with all you need to care for them and it says that you need to come back to get them filled.

The timing will be different for everyone but depending on your lashes, fills are typically recommended every 2 to 3 weeks.

This has everything to do with how your lashes cycle or grow, as well as the number of lashes you have.

Depending on the availability of your NL or "natural lash" and the look you're trying to achieve, ideally you will have a 1:1 ratio of extensions to natural lashes. If you're not sure what that means, I explain it in my earlier blog "Let's Talk Lashes".

The diagram below shows the growth cycle of your lashes:

As you can see, your lashes grow but also shed regularly , and depending on how many lashes have been extended and where they are in their growth cycle, it's important to get lash fills. As the natural lash sheds, the extension attached to it also sheds and a new baby lash or anagen grows in.

So can every lash be extended ?

Yes and no. They can be provided you use the right lash width and weight. Some"baby" or anagen lashes may be too short and fine as they're growing in but you may be able to put on a .03 or .05 width lash with a .10 weight. Your lash stylist will be able to determine which lashes should or shouldn't be filled based on the state of your lashes.

A great stylist will consult with you throughout your session to make sure your lashes receive the proper type of extensions to keep them healthy and stunning. Since we shed approximately 21 lashes per week, each available lash should be lashed to achieve the best possible look. This ensures that your lash fill session time is utilized to its fullest to maintain your gorgeous new look!
